Head of Turkmenistan and Secretary General of the Organization of Turkic States discuss energy and transport

Turkmen President Serdar Berdymukhamedov received Secretary General of the Organization of Turkic States (OTS) Kubanychbek Omuraliyev and discussed coordination of efforts and implementation of joint projects in energy, transport, and trade, the Turkmen state news agency TDH reported Sunday.

The head of state noted at the meeting that Ashgabat pays great attention to cooperation with the organization, which Turkmenistan joined in the status of observer.

During the meeting, the sides exchanged views on the prospects for cooperation in view of its solid potential in various fields. It was emphasized that “coordination of efforts and implementation of joint projects in such strategic areas as energy, transport and communications sector and trade are considered relevant in the light of current realities”.

The head of Turkmenistan and the general secretary of the TSG also discussed the implementation of programs and projects in the sphere of education, science and culture.

The Cooperation Council of Turkic Speaking States (Turkic Council), established in 2009, decided at a summit in Istanbul in November 2021 to change its name to the Organization of Turkic States. The organization includes Azerbaijan, Kazakhstan, Kyrgyzstan, Turkey and Uzbekistan, with Turkmenistan and Hungary participating as observers.
